N. Charleston, SC 29406

As part of its congressional charter, the American Red Cross facilitates emergency communication between members of the armed forces and their families. The Carolina Lowcountry Chapter provides an around-the-clock, around-the-world network that allows service members to stay in touch with their families during births, deaths, and serious illness.

In some situations, emergency financial assistance may be provided to active duty members through the military aid society, referral or other social services. Call the Carolina Lowcountry Chapter at 843-764-2323 and follow the voice prompts for assistance to military members and their families. Family members living outside the local area should call their local Red Cross to initiate emergency communication. Local Red Cross offices can be found on the web by typing www.redcross.org and providing in your zip code.

The American Red Cross also provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. We offer Health and Safety training--CPR and First Aid, water safety and baby sitting--to members in the community. The Carolina Lowcountry Chapter also provides disaster education, and training in International Humanitarian Law. This increases to six hours per pay period after three years of service and to eight hours per pay period after 15 years of service.
