Preplanning is essential for newcomers moving to the Kingsville area, whether for a permanent change of station, or a student assignment.
Military families are encouraged to contact the Housing Welcome Center at
(361) 516-6498 or DSN 876-6498 as soon as orders are received. Its staff will help
you locate suitable and affordable government or civilian housing in the local area. NAS Kingsville does not have on-base family government quarters.
Temporary quarters can be arranged by contacting the Bachelor Housing Office at
(361) 516-6428 or DSN 876-6591. The combined officer and enlisted billeting office is open from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. An answering machine is available after duty hours.
Newcomers are also encouraged to contact their local Personal Property office as soon as possible after receiving orders to arrange shipment of household goods. Once shipment dates are known, they should contact the Personal Property office at NAS Kingsville to arrange storage or delivery of their household goods.
All new personnel should hear from a gaining-command sponsor shortly after receiving orders. If not, contact your gaining unit and ask for your sponsor’s name and phone number. Your gaining command should also provide you a mailing address where letters can be forwarded until a permanent address can be established.
NAS Kingsville is located approximately 40 miles south of Corpus Christi — the eighth largest city in Texas — just one mile from HWY 77 and the city of Kingsville. The exit to the base is clearly marked at HWY 77 and FM 425.
Taxi service is available from Corpus Christi International Airport (approximately $99). A Greyhound Bus also runs between Corpus Christi and downtown Kingsville (approximately $18). However, people arriving by aircraft may want to contact their sponsor ahead of time for helpful information about transportation.
Newcomers are encouraged to check in before 9 p.m. when the billeting office closes. No on base quarters are available after that time.
When arriving after duty hours, the NAS Kingsville Command Duty Officer (CDO) or Asst. Command Duty Officer (ACDO) can stamp orders. Notify the appropriate duty officer in advance that you will be arriving late by calling (361) 438-6938 or (361) 438-6979. Then have the NAS Security Police Office (361-516-6217) notify the duty officer when you arrive. The NAS Security Police Office is open 24 hours a day.
Newcomers should report to their duty station (Administrative Department) the first work day after arrival where they will be provided with an
in-processing checklist. No Personnel Support Activity is available at NAS Kingsville. This service will be provided at NAS Corpus Christi.

All newly reporting personnel must register their privately owned vehicle with the Pass and Tag office (361-516-6555) within 30 days of checking aboard. Required documents include: (1) current drivers license; (2) military, dependent, or civilian employee ID card; (3) current state vehicle registration; (4) proof of insurance; and (5) current motor vehicle inspection sticker (if required by the state where the vehicle is registered).
Motorcycles, mopeds and motor scooters require all of the above documentation and proof of Motorcycle Safety Course completion. Safety gear requirements for motorcycle riders on base include helmet with eye protection, hard-soled shoes with heels, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, long-legged trousers, full fingered gloves, and an orange or yellow vest with reflective strips front and back.
Decals are issued from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Temporary passes are available from the Security Dispatch office outside of
these hours.

The Pass and Tag office also issues Identification Cards for military personnel and their dependents, civilian employees, retirees, and reservists living in the Kingsville area. Military and dependent IDs and DEERS enrollment are accomplished from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Civilian IDs are issued from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A firearm that falls into any of the following categories must be registered with the Security Department:
• Firearms to be stored at the station armory.
• Firearms to be utilized for hunting on station, Escondido Ranch, or at NALF Orange Grove.
• Firearms to be used at the station’s small arms firing range.
NOTE: Firearms cannot be transported aboard the station without written approval from the Commanding Officer.

Hunting and fishing aboard the station, NALF Orange Grove and Escondido Ranch is authorized in accordance with station directives and state and federal laws. Please review all applicable directives prior to hunting or fishing.
Should you buy a new or used car or boat, you may request the Military Working Dog team to provide you with a courtesy search of the vehicle. You will not be held responsible for any results of the search. The primary consideration is your safety and physical security.
