ARMY RESERVE UNIT

While consolidating the Army’s active duty military personnel and recruiting functions at Fort Knox into the Human Resource Center of Excellence, the 2005 BRAC Commission also directed the relocation of several Army Reserve headquarters to Fort Knox to enhance readiness, training and mobilization of Army reserve forces.
The 11th Theater Aviation Command was the first to arrive in 2007 with the responsibility to provide command and control for all Army Reserve aviation. The 84th Training Command followed late in 2008, with the responsibility for managing reserve training exercises, and reserve training centers throughout the United States.
The Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) began its move from Fort McCoy, Wis., to Fort Knox late in 2010 with the remainder of its staff scheduled to be in place no later than July 2011. The training center’s primary mission is to provide the school house for approximately 8,000 full-time Army reserve support personnel annually.
Finally, the Army Reserve’s 100th Division (Operational Support) headquarters will move from Louisville to Fort Knox mid to late 2011. The headquarters staff is responsible for managing training for Army Reserve, National Guard and active component Soldiers in a number of career fields including Military Intelligence, Civil Affairs, and Health Services.

ARMY RESERVE READINESS TRAINING CENTER

The Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) is the Army Reserve’s primary school house for full time support personnel. The ARRTC trains approximately 8,000 students per year in either one or two week courses.
The ARRTC instructs a multitude of functional courses for the Army Reserve’s full time staff which include Military Technicians, Department of Army Civilians, and Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) employees. These courses include Unit Administrator Basic Course, Unit Pay Course, and Army Reserve Technician Entry Training.
The ARRTC is also responsible for teaching courses to Soldiers and civilians assigned to Reserve and National Guard units in Mobilization Planning, Unit Movement, the enhanced Standard Army Maintenance System (SAMS-1E), the enhanced Property Book Unit Supply system (PBUSE), Physical Security and Basic Combat History. It also has an Advance Distributive Learning (dL) branch that develops and maintains dL courses for both Reserve and Active duty personnel.
The ARRTC is also the home of the Army Reserve Retention Course and the 79V Senior Leader Course. Soldiers graduated from these courses are the Army Reserve’s key to maintaining its end strength by providing units with well trained Retention NCOs.

11th AVIATION COMMAND

The 11th Aviation Command (AC), an Army Reserve unit at Fort Knox, provides air traffic services (ATS), airfield management, aeromedical evacuation, combat aviation brigade reinforcement, theater aviation support, and coordination of aviation staging and onward movement in order to support corps, Army or joint operations.
The 11th AC has two missions: It functions as both a war fighting headquarters and as a functional command. As a war fighting command, the 11th AC provides command, control, staff planning, and supervision for two aviation brigades and one air traffic service brigade. As a Functional Command, the 11th AC provides command and control for all Army Reserve aviation.

84th TRAINING COMMAND

The 84th Training Command at Fort Knox has command and control over many Army Reserve units throughout the United States including three training divisions responsible for all U. S. Army Reserve collective training exercises, three regional training centers, six observer controller/trainer battalions and the small arms readiness group.
The mission of the 84th Training Command is to train and assess Army Reserve units’ ability to provide combat commanders and civil authorities with a steady supply of trained and ready reserve units that are task-organized in modular expeditionary force packages and tailored to joint mission requirements. It supports both operational and functional commands. The 84th provides training to joint, combined, and active army forces, as directed.

100th Training Division (Operational Support)

The Army Reserve’s 100th Division (Operational Support) headquarters is moving from Louisville, Ky., to Fort Knox in mid to late 2011 when Boudinot Hall’s $1.4 million renovation program is complete.
The 100th Training Division (Operations Support) is responsible for training Army Reserve, National Guard, and active component Soldiers in Military Intelligence, Signal, Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations, and Health Services Specialties nation-wide. The division includes nearly 2,000 Soldiers, with 70 assigned at the Fort Knox headquarters.
