The South Central Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) provides coordination and direction as the focal point for administrative and material readiness for all mine warfare ships. RMC directs, assigns and monitors the accomplishments of emergent depot-level industrial repairs; screens ship maintenance requests to determine when and where maintenance will be performed based on availability of resources; and oversees the performance of all mine warfare ship repairs.
Mine Countermeasures Squadron ONE (MCMRON ONE) provides a 24/7 deployable, expeditionary staff for tactical command and control of mine countermeasures triad forces in support of national tasking and operational requirements.
MCMRON ONE, along with her sister squadrons, MCMRON TWO and MCMRON THREE, is jointly responsible for mine countermeasures planning and operations worldwide. MCMRON ONE is charged primarily with responsibility for the Pacific region and routinely conducts deployments to Korea and Japan in support of national security objectives.
Mine Countermeasures Squadron TWO assists the Type Commander (TYCOM) by providing trained crews and materially ready ships for deployment to warfighting Fleet Commanders. The Squadron conducts prompt and sustained combat and non-combat operations by coordinating the employment of surface mine countermeasures (MCM) ships and crews assigned to the Squadron. The MCM vessels must have the capability to deploy worldwide for multi-purpose missions; clear strategic U.S. or foreign ports and harbors of mine; conduct underwater surveys of U.S. and foreign coastlines; neutralize a variety of mine threats; and participate in Theater Security Cooperation efforts.
Mine Countermeasures Squadron THREE (MCMRON THREE) provides a 24/7 deployable, expeditionary staff for tactical command and control of mine countermeasures triad forces in support of national tasking and operational requirements. Assigned primary responsibility for MCM operational and exercise support in the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), the Squadron is expeditionary by nature, mobile by design, and ready to respond to any mine warfare contingency in the vital Arabian Gulf theater.
Mine Warfare Training Center (MWTC) Ingleside is the single instructional site providing tactical and hands-on training in mine warfare, as well as maintenance and operation of mine warfare combat systems ordnance. Additionally, MWTC’s mission is to provide training in firefighting and damage control, shipboard equipment and systems operation, and maintenance training, which cannot be economically or adequately conducted on board ship. More than 4,000 students a year are trained at the school. Some of the courses taught are Mineman “A” and “C” schools, Minesweeper Boatswain’s Mate, Firefighting, Sonar Basics, Sonar Operations/ Maintenance, and Minesweeping Electrician’s Mate.
MWTC also serves as the Local Training Authority (LTA). In this role, MWTC seeks out nontraditional training opportunities from the civilian business or educational communities to meet Fleet training needs. MWTC Ingleside has a staff of more than 80 military and civilian personnel.
The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Jacksonville, Detachment Ingleside, operates a 75,917 square-foot logistics facility to provide ships and shore commands with supplies and services. The Supply Center carries everything from engines to bolts, circuit cards to ink pads.
The warehouse section of the Supply Center houses bulk storage areas, a refrigerated space, a state-of-the-art hazardous materials storage area and a multitude of small storage bins. The customer service area houses the purchasing, expediting and customer logistics support functions. In addition, the Supply Center houses a “SERVMART,” which provides ready access and online ordering for high usage consumables and office supplies.
Naval Station Ingleside serves as homeport to the following ships:
USS AVENGER (MCM 1)
